“An easy wardrobe with a Y2K vibe” was how Isabel Marant described her latest collection during a walk-through in her sunlit Paris showroom.
She looked to the fuzzy, velvety textures and cartoonish brights of the era, and to its shrunken and oversize proportions. Marant even tapped a model who she later realized resembled the late Stella Tennant, who rose to catwalk fame during the turn of the Millennium.

Marant gave classic pieces a sweet, bright twist: A shiny trench, and scrunched, low-heel boots were the color of lemon curd, while a bubblegum pink miniskirt peeked from under an oversize tweed jacket and matching waistcoat.
A loose and languid lilac sweater with a deep V collar, and an XL faux fur jacket, purple as a bunch of grapes, added flowery, fruity notes to an already colorful collection.
A blue-speckled printed jersey top came with keyhole cutouts. Marant paired it with a flippy, tiered skirt with a print that resembled confetti. Hey, it was the turn of the century, after all.
