Ironton crosswalk painting event around corner

May 10—IRONTON — A community art project in Ironton is asking for help in the annual crosswalk painting event scheduled for Sunday, May 19.

Paintbrushes and paint will fill an area near Third and Center Street where organizers hope for a turnout of community members to participate in this year's crosswalk painting. Amanda Cleary, of Third and Center, said it's a day providing two things: fun and education on crosswalk safety.

"We are thrilled to host the fourth annual community Crosswalk Painting Event in downtown Ironton," she said. "This event not only allows young people to express their creativity but also serves as a reminder of the importance of pedestrian safety in our community.

"We invite everyone to join us for a day filled with art, fun and community connection." Cleary added.

Ohio State University Extension will be on site with "interactive and informative" activities focusing on crosswalk safety and distracted driving, the release said.
