In the middle of Milan’s menswear season, it takes a lot to draw attention away from the boys. And yet this past weekend, Irina Shayk and Stella Maxwell did just that. The supermodels exited Versace’s Spring 2020 men’s show on Saturday in a flurry of flashbulbs, taking Donatella’s slinky look onto the streets. With Maxwell in a black crop top and trousers featuring the brand’s gold hibiscus print and Shayk wearing one of the black bikini tops and a safety pin adorned mini skirt beneath an oversized blouse, they were a walking campaign. The pair instantly attracted the attention of photographers, inadvertently creating the season’s first big street style moment.

Shayk and Maxwell each have memorable personal style all of their own, but they’re never better than when they’re together. Old friends who regularly walk the same shows, they’ve hit the runway in lingerie at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and posed side by side in campaigns for The Kooples. Off-duty, their outfits are individual yet coordinated. Last week in Florence after walking Luisaviaroma’s summer show, they stepped out arm in arm with Shayk in a slinky Helmut Lang slip dress and Maxwell wearing one of VS’s lace bodysuits with jeans. United by a shared love of neutrals, body conscious silhouettes, and oversized sunglasses, they looked every bit the part of high fashion superstars.
