Irina Shayk Addressed the Public Interest in Her and Bradley Cooper's Relationship
The first in-depth interview with Irina Shayk after she and Bradley Cooper ended their four-year relationship just came out today in HarpersBazaar.com. As the outlet noted, Shayk spoke to its feature director Olivia Fleming shortly before her and Cooper's split went public. Fleming tried to get a follow-up interview to address the recent development, but Shayk's agency shot the idea down, saying, “Irina didn't comment on her personal life before, nor will she 'address recent developments' now.”
Shayk did talk about the public interest in her and Cooper pre-split. “I think it's just human beings: if you cannot have it, you want to have it," she said. "There's a curtain there, you want to open the curtain. It's curiosity I guess.”
She also discussed her feelings on marriage. She and Cooper were long rumored to be engaged but never tied the knot. “Everyone looks at it differently,” she said. “Do I believe in marriage? Yes, of course. I'm not the kind of person who is against it.”
But she spoke much more about her image as a model and a mother. She rejected the idea that any woman needs to wear a more demure mom uniform just because she has had a child. “Tell me one reason why, just because you're a mother, you need to wear a longer skirt. No! I don't believe in that. I really don't,” she said. “How is it that people think of this idea? Why should you have to change who you are and how you feel just because you become a mother? I'm like, tell me why. Tell me one reason! I don't believe in that. I don't understand why.”
