‘Internet Sweetheart’ Keke Palmer Covers The Cut

Keke Palmer is on the cover of women’s magazine The Cut talking about life, motherhood, existential matters, aliens and politics. Palmer looked stunning in a long-sleeved black and white dress with her long black hair fanning her face. In another photo from the photo spread, Palmer is seen in a long, spaghetti-strapped dress laying across a covered couch. The mother of one, has been the center of attention over the past week after her boyfriend, Darius Dualton, who she shares a son with, called her out for wearing a sheer black dress to an Usher concert in Las Vegas. In her interview which took place the same day the discourse kicked off online, Palmer talked about her present state of mind, and how motherhood has liberated her.

“After having my baby, I’ve gotten so much more powerful. We’re going to lean into this new body, and I think that is the whole aura of what’s happening with me in this big boss era as I come into my 30s, and I have my baby boy, and I’m just continuing to spread my wings as a young woman,” she told The Cut.

On Fame

Palmer has had an impressive run with her career, starting out as a young actor on Disney Channel and starring in critically acclaimed films like 2022’s Jordan Peele “Nope”. In her interview, she talked about the importance of maintaining a sense of relatability even, and especially, amidst all the fame that surrounds her.

“I don’t like the kind of era that we are in with fame, I definitely self-deprecate, point to my flaws, constantly say I’m not perfect because I really don’t want people putting me to this unbelievable standard,” she shared. “I don’t live to be a celebrity. I live to do what I love, to share love, to give something positive to the world.”

On Politics

Palmer has been vocal about her thoughts on politics and the state of the country. When the Supreme Court dismantled Affirmative Action, she was one of the celebrities who lent their voice to the matter. She told the magazine that if she was to ever go into politics it would be because he really believed that she could fix or figure something out.

“So I think that’s what it would really take is for me to feel like I could actually be useful,” she shared.

On Controversy

While Palmer didn’t address the online situation with Daulton outright in her latest interview, she did seem to make an unofficial response to the drama through her social media accounts. Palmer released two shirts including one that states “I’m a motha,” a few days after the incident happened. Daulton’s criticism of Palmer was first made public after he tweeted, “It’s the outfit tho.. You a mom,” in response to her attire at the Usher concert.

Palmer has reportedly unfollowed Daulton on Instagram. The 29-year-old however, disclosed that she is grateful for the humanizing effects of always being a meme.

“ “I do feel like America’s little sister, little cousin. I feel very much so related to everybody,” Palmer said. “I’m like that second cousin that you see every two years at the family reunion.”
