Ella Mielniczenko has announced that she and her wife, Hannah Hart, are separating nearly two years after the couple wed.

Mielniczenko made the difficult announcement about their "cosmic uncoupling" on Instagram today, May 23, when she posted a screenshot from her notes app on the photo-sharing platform.

"It's with great sadness that Hannah and I have decided to part ways," the message began. "Our love for each other has been transformative and life changing. But our paths, as much as we have tried, have not aligned. We both come from complex life dynamics, and I've been open with my mental health struggles. We are moving forward as individuals and friends. Our hope is that we can continue to support each other and we ask for some space and kindness during this difficult time for both of us and our families."

The two met a decade ago when Mielniczenko, who was a founding member of BuzzFeed Video and has worked extensively in video production, was working as a producer on a film that Hart, a content creator, comedian, and actress, was starring in. They were each dating other people at the time and didn't go out together for the first time until three years later, in the summer of 2016.

Two years later they were engaged, with the Covid-19 pandemic leading them to postpone their 2020 wedding. They were finally married in June of 2021, as detailed in Brides.

While many expressed their sadness over the situation, friends and fans were super supportive of the pair in the comments.

"Sending you both so much love and healing energy 🤍," one wrote.

"Aw ☹️ Sending you both so much love and comfort. I’m glad you’re both doing what you feel is best even though it’s tough ❤️," said another.

"Good vibes to both of you, that can't have been an easy decision," another shared.

Hart has yet to comment on the situation on her own social media accounts.
