The Internet is Rallying Around This Mom Who Tragically Lost Her Baby

She shared an important message when her baby died after getting tangled in a baby blanket. Now others are reaching out to show support to this heartbroken mom.

Jordan DeRosier tragically lost her 7-month-old baby Sloan Valor when he suffocated in the middle of the night after getting tangled in his baby blanket. And after sharing the story of his death on social media in order to help prevent this from happening to anyone else, the heartbroken mama has received an outpouring of support on social media.

"He was last laid down to bed with this blanket made by his great-great grandmother, and one other blanket, a grey one he had been attached to since birth," the heartbroken mom explained. "He had pulled it through the crib rails somehow and gotten himself stuck in it. You never think it will happen to you. You never think it will be your baby. Please do not put your babies to bed with a blanket. Please. He was 7 months old, I thought because he was crawling, standing on his own, and climbing, that he would be fine with a blanket. This is the face of immense, unfathomable grief, the face of longing, of heartbreak, of self-inflicted GUILT. I will NEVER stop feeling responsible. I will relive this for the rest of my life."

So unbelievably sad. Jordan—who says she handles her grief with words—also shared a harrowing account of the incident on her Facebook page that left me sobbing from line one. I'm just so sorry for her loss, and I can't even begin to understand her pain. After I finished reading, I spend a good hour scrolling through the touching and uplifting messages left for her all across social media. The Instagram community, in particular, has responded is a really sweet way during Jordan's darkest days, by reposting the quote "Our love for you lights up the sky" with the hashtag #letyourlightshineSVD.

Pretty incredible. And there are probably 100 more just like them. It's often difficult to know how to respond when others are experiencing immeasurable grief, and it's truly amazing to see parents come out to support each other in this way.

"24 hours ago right now our lives changed forever," Jordan wrote in another Instagram update. "The hands, and people who have held me the past 24 hours have been immeasurably impactful and comforting."

Sending peaceful thoughts to this courageous mom. And if you'd like to help this beautiful family, please take a moment to visit their You Caring page.
