Internet Divided on Gabrielle Union Splitting Finances With Dwyane Wade

A recent comment from Gabrielle Union about how she and her husband, Dwyane Wade, manage their finances has the internet up in arms.

The actress sat down for an interview with Bloomberg Originals recently and shared that the couple splits their finances evenly.

She said, "It's weird to say I'm head of household because in this household, we split everything 50/50... But in the other households that each of us has to support, it puts this — there's always like this gorilla on your back, that's like, 'You better work! You better work! You want to sleep in? (Then) somebody might not eat.' And it's hard."

Union added, "I have more responsibilities for my money. I get nervous if a movie doesn’t open, am I gonna have enough to hold everyone up?”

Well, a lot of people on the internet were shocked to hear that Union and Wade split 50/50, and they did not hold back on sharing their opinions.

One person noted that Wade, who is a retired professional basketball player who owns stakes in various sports teams, reportedly makes quite a bit more than Union, saying, "IF IF IF...the internet be true, he has over 4x's her net worth. I speak for myself when I say, I would NOT expect my husband to go 50-50 with me if I have over 4x's his net worth. He would be one comfortable brother! She should have to pay something, but 50%? Naw. I'm not going."

Another person supported Union's independent outlook, writing, "Gabrielle Union is a boss lady! Splitting bills evenly and still hustling to secure her future. Work ethic on point."

Others related to her comments, like one who said, "I get it no matter how much money you have if you’ve seen how bad it can get you’ll work as hard as possible to never go back especially for your family’s sake."

Of course, there were also many who didn't agree with Union's choice, with a tweet reading, "Gabrielle Union saying she goes 50/50 with Dwayne Wade after him having that outside baby on you is wild but even wilder you took that dude back after that act he pulled on you."

But a common comment in the conversation was also that people should mind their own businesses and respect Union and Wade's choices for their own household.

A Twitter user wrote, "Gabrielle Union is a multimillionaire married to a multimillionaire. Better don’t worry about which bills they are splitting and focus on your bills that are due."

One fan even wrote, "lol i find it unfortunate that interviewers sit down with a movie legend like gabrielle union and ask her how things work in her house."

Luckily, it appears that Union doesn't mind the debate, as she shared a post on Instagram that seemingly referenced the backlash.
