Internet Calls Out Titanic Tourist Sub Footage That 'Didn't Age Well'

A young woman on TikTok went viral because of a video showing the submersible that disappeared off the southeastern coast of Canada shortly before its descent.

Abbi Jackson, an underwater videographer, appears to have been on the boat taking five people out to the site of the Titanic shipwreck.

She shared a video on TikTok from the boat with the submersible visible at the surface of the water, with text overlay reading, "watching a submersible go down to the titanic."

Clearly, the TikTok algorithm is working hard these days, as many people saw the video and commented on it in the wake of the sad news.

The most-liked comment, with over 99,000 likes, as of writing, says, "Well this didn’t age well."

Others asked if this was the missing submersible, with people confirming and pointing out that Jackson is wearing an OceanGate Expeditions vest in the video, and that's the company behind the dive.

Many more simply wrote things like, "Wild 😳," "Is this the one 😳," and "Last sighting..? 👀."

Overall, people were amazed at the TikTok algorithm's accuracy, as one person commented, "Elon can only dream of an algorithm hittin [sic] this hard."

While the missing submersible and the ongoing search is a serious situation, some couldn't help but try to bring a little lighthearted humor into the comments, with one user writing, "If you see a necklace i dropped it last time," referring to the blue diamond necklace heavily featured in the Titanic film.

The comments were also filled with people asking for updates on the situation, but Jackson has not uploaded anything new to her TikTok account since this video.

After the submersible was reported missing, authorities quickly began a search. The U.S. Coast Guard is running the search and rescue operation, working closely with the Canadian Coast Guard.
