Mauney Memorial Library is hosting the tour, which will be held at 10 a.m. on May 4, beginning at Old Southern Railway Depot, located at 301 N. Piedmont Ave.

Registration is required.

Former mayor, Scott Neisler, will be leading and narrating the inaugural tour.

Christina Martin, director of Mauney Memorial Library, said there are 24 stops for those who want to do the full tour, and an abbreviated option that encompasses stops one through 15, all on one side of King Street.

She said Healthy Together Cleveland County gave the library a grant, which paid for signs to be printed and assisted in promoting "getting out and exercising in a fun and educational opportunity, creating a healthy, connected community."

The tour will take between an hour and an hour and a half.

"The oldest known house in Kings Mountain will be on the tour, as well as the depot, overhead bridges, Central School and more peppered with lots of stories of yesteryear," Martin said.
