Michelin has just given its highest award to eight Italian hotels via its newly established rating system. The Italian recipients of Michelin’s “three keys” status span the boot-shaped nation.

The hotels — recognized for their exemplary service and accommodations — include J.K. Place Capri, Corte Della Maestà, Castello di Reschio, Casa Maria Luigia, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, Il San Pietro di Positano, Aman Venice, and Cipriani a Belmond Hotel Venice.

The Michelin key rating system for hotels is comparable to the renowned guide’s star rating system for the best restaurants in the world. In April, the food and hospitality authority revealed that the key rating system resulted from four years of refreshing its “crème de la crème” hotel selection. Michelin claims all the hotels honored with a key, or keys, “excel in design, architecture, service, and personality.” The rating system is as follows:

  • One Key: a very special stay

  • Two Keys: an exceptional stay

  • Three Keys: an extraordinary stay

If you’re looking for Instagram-worthy travel spots for your upcoming Euro Summer, consider one of Michelin’s Italian “three keys” below.

J.K. Place Capri – Capri, Italy

This cliffside Capri-based boutique hotel sits on the vibrant turquoise waters of the Gulf of Naples. Instagram users would love to add this hotel to their feeds because of its uniquely chic decor — which Michelin describes as “classic, urbane, [and] perhaps even just a touch of English country style.”

Castello di Reschio – Umbria, Italy

Opulence is married with a contemporary, slightly whimsical flair at this 1000-year-old castle-turned-hotel in Lisciano Niccone. If you snag a room here, your Instagram posts will be filled with richly colored walls, beautifully plated meals, and the rolling hills of Umbria.

Casa Maria Luigia – Modena, Italy

According to Michelin, this 12-room “country-house hotel” in Modena is “a compelling culinary destination” and an art lover’s dream. If your Instagram is an endless scroll of foodie flexing and art galleries, this might be the place for you.

Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco – Tuscany, Italy

Located in Montalcino, within the province of Siena, Tuscany, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco will delightfully charm your followers with its beautiful landscape. This hotel estate is for those wanting to bask in nature’s luxuries. The property is in the Tuscan countryside and filled with vineyards and lavender bushes.

Il San Pietro di Positano – Positano, Italy

This top-of-the-line hotel has some of the most stunning views in Positano. This luxury hotel on the Amalfi Coast is what Instagram dreams are made of. During a stay, travelers enjoy views of the water from every room, private terraces, and a cliffside pool overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Aman Venice – Venice, Italy

The Aman Venice displays opulent and over-the-top Venetian decor at its best. If you want your Instagram aesthetic to exude luxury, this is the place for you.

Cipriani a Belmond Hotel Venice – Venice, Italy

A trip to Venice is not complete without snapping photos at Hotel Cipriani’s iconic pool. Ditto for the Casanova Gardens on its property. This hotel is a spot for flexing on the ‘gram. It has a Michelin-starred restaurant, and now, a three keys Michelin rating.

Corte Della Maestà – Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy

This B&B is Instagram-worthy because of more than its visually captivating, maximalist aesthetic. The eye-catching, five-room build has a lore behind it that’ll intrigue your followers regarding its unique history. Located in Civita di Bagnoregio, Corte Della Maestà housed a bishop centuries ago before the city was abandoned due to an earthquake. Today, the stunning property is an escape outside of Rome providing old-world charm, countless bookshelves, and lush greenery throughout.
