Instagram Is Divided over Laura Prepon’s French Toast (and Some of the Comments Are Brutal)

When it comes to her roles as Donna Pinciotti in That ’70s Show or Alex Vause in Orange Is the New Black, Laura Prepon can do no wrong in her fans’ eyes. But if we’re talking about her French toast…that’s a different story. The actress recently showed off her recipe, and let’s just say that not everyone agrees with her ingredients list.

“Such an easy breakfast my daughter loves—French toast,” she says in the Instagram video. She then beats an egg in a bowl, coats two pieces of bread in the egg and adds them to a greased pan on the stove.

When we first saw the video, we tried our best not to judge…that is, until we read the comments and realized we weren’t the only ones thinking what we were thinking. And, as always, these Instagrammers did not hold back:

“I do like many of your tips…but you gotta know people will have feelings about this no cinnamon, no milk or vanilla!! That’s scrambled eggs on bread.”

“Is French toast subjective? Because I’ve never had it this way”

“That ain’t French toast that’s just egg bread”

“Definitely NOT French toast but ok girl”

“God dammit Donna”

A few commenters came to her defense:

“Wow. Do none of you have kids? Or feed them a healthy balanced diet? All of the comments seem to forget that she has a young child and most likely doesn’t want to give her added ingredients when her kid is perfectly happy with ‘egg bread.’”

“Don’t be so judgmental. Maybe her daughter likes the recipe the way it is. Toddlers can be very picky and whatever they like, stick with it!”

“I’m just scrollin, scrollin all up in the comments and laughing my ass off…guys let her and her egg bread live. Different strokes for different folks.”

Personally, we see both sides. It’s true that kids can be extremely picky and this recipe clearly works for her daughter. But surely cinnamon and vanilla would only add more kid-friendly flavor to the dish? Milk would also help soften the bread and bind the eggs to it, plus add a bit of protein. Given how often Prepon makes homemade bone broth and bone broth rice for her fam, we can’t imagine this would be a problem.

Wherever you fall in the Prepon French toast debate, at least there’s one thing we can all agree on—the maple syrup topping.
