The illusionary Instagram feed of makeup and visual artist Dain Yoon is definitely one to get lost in. It’s the work of a 22-year-old from South Korea who is becoming known for visual handiwork that will make you do a double-take, and even question what’s real. Yoon creates visual trickery by using watercolors on her face and is gaining lots of attention for it — more than 21,000 Instagram followers and growing — and it won’t take you long to realize why.

Delicate strokes and perfect shading add to the realistic look of the artist’s work, leading many to wonder how she does it. And while she doesn’t reveal the secrets to her technique, she does reassure her audience that the work is all her own. “This is not photoshopped. It’s real painting,” she captioned one of her videos, which accompany the photos displayed on her blog. The artist only began posting her work to Instagram about two months ago, but the media has been quickly catching on.

“I had interviews with Sports Seoul and TV Chosun,” Yoon wrote on one of her posts, revealing that she is not only internationally known, but captivating attention in nonartistic fields as well. (And although appealing to sports media might seem like a challenge for an artist, Yoon’s skillfully created golf-themed design snapped those on the sports beat to attention.)

Yoon, who could not be reached for comment right away by Yahoo Beauty, is currently a student at the Korean National University of Arts, according to the Daily Mail. Meanwhile, her skills are being well-honed in front of her devoted fan base — and if this is the beginning of a makeup revolution, we can’t wait to see what’s next.
