Heralding the highly anticipated return of live theater to New York City, the Roundabout Theatre Company invaded Central Park on Monday, June 7 to host its annual gala, this year with the theme “Curtain Up, Light the Lights!”
The event, which was help both virtually and, for some lucky guests, in person, included a live auction (run by Pat Tully), seated dinner and performances from friends and supporters of the non-profit theater company. Celebrity guests included Adrienne Warren, Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, Tituss Burgess, and the New York Pops, and there were virtual appearances by company alums such as Rachel Brosnahan, Whoopi Goldberg, Emma Stone, Blair Underwood, and Vanessa Williams. Proceeds from the evening benefit Roundabout’s programming and supporting artists and employees who’ve been without work.
Roundabout will have some other major moments in the coming months; its productions of Caroline, Or Change and Trouble in Mind are both set to begin previews on Broadway this fall.
