Go Inside Norman Reedus & Diane Kruger's New Rockstar-Chic 'Castle' in the Hollywood Hills

Self-quarantining might not be so bad if we could all do it like Norman Reedus and Diane Kruger. This month, the couple reportedly dropped a cool $8.5 million (in cash, no less) on a veritable castle in the trendy Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles. And leave it to The Walking Dead actor and the effortlessly interesting Kruger to nab the home that quite possibly has more cool cred than any other residence in West Hollywood.

The backstory? Before Reedus and Kruger bought the 7,732-square-foot home, it belonged to video game programmer-turned-CEO Jeff Strain. Before that, though — and this is surely where a lot of the home’s badass interior aesthetic comes from — it was “flipped” courtesy of 9 by Design‘s eclectic husband-and-wife design duo Robert and Cortney Novogratz. They’d purchased it for only $3.725 million pre-renovation. After putting their touch on it, they sold it to Strain for nearly $12 million. So, if you think about it, Reedus and Kruger got one hell of a deal.

Fittingly dubbed “The Castle,” the circa 1926 villa is situated on a gated promontory behind the iconic Chateau Marmont Hotel. It features for bedrooms, five full bathrooms and two half bathrooms and sits on almost half an acre — plenty of room for Reedus and Kruger to raise their daughter… and maybe future siblings for the little girl, too. Just check out those turrets! What kid wouldn’t want to live in a house with Rapunzel towers?

Once past the glamorous Old Hollywood exterior, the home features expansive living spaces all designed for entertaining. And, like, can we talk about that staircase? Swoon.

The dining room is light and airy and lets in tons of natural light.

Reedus and Kruger can cook all of the potatoes they want (did you see Reedus’ recent quarantine haul?!) in this luxurious kitchen. And between the marble-topped island and an adjoining breakfast room, there’s plenty of space to enjoy family mealtime. Bonus? Sunlight streams into the entire area through chic, steel-trimmed French doors.

On the home’s top level, Reedus and Kruger’s very Restoration Hardware-y master bedroom offers sweeping views of Los Angeles. They also have a spa-style bathroom (that tile! that tub!) and walk-in closet with custom built-ins.

Two en-suite guest bedrooms round out the upper level, and can we live here, please? We’d be content just occupying the guest bathroom; we swear it.

Blonde hardwood floors and cool wall treatments give an oversized space on the lower level a decidedly kid-friendly feel. Really rad kids belong here, obvs, and that’s surely what Reedus and Kruger’s offspring are destined to be.

The whole vibe on the lower levels is artist-loft-creative. A lounge area featuring a massive sectional sofa, an arcade, a high-tech gaming area and custom library built-ins are just a few of the fun highlights.

There’s no shortage of entertainment in this palatial home. A wine cellar and giant home gym occupy the last level.

As if all of that wasn’t dreamy enough, lush landscaping leads to an ethereal outdoor space with built-in grills, tons of seating, a cool free-standing fireplace and a pool.

Yeah, we could do self-distancing here. How about you?
