A group including Diane Sawyer, Gay Talese, Peter Marino, Renata Adler, and Coco Brandolini made their way to the New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on November 4 to join the festivities at the annual Library Lions gala, which this year honored Elizabeth Alexander, Philip Glass, Jamaica Kincaid, Jill Lepore, and Frederick Wiseman.
The evening, which raises crucial funds to support the NYPL's 88 branches, was co-chaired by Princess Firyal of Jordan, Adam and Mahnaz Ispahani Bartos, Tony and Nanar Yoseloff, Sana Sabbagh, Sue Ann Weinberg, Jim and Merryl Tisch, Andrés and Lauren Santo Domingo, Christine and Stephen A. Schwarzman, and Charles and Deborah Royce.
More than 500 guests showed up at the Fifth Avenue institution to hear remarks from Mayor Bill de Blasio and a musical performance by Wynton Marsalis before tucking into dinner and celebrating the award winners. The night ended with desserts and a book signing in the building's Astor Hall.
