Inside Brad Pitt’s Near Run-In With Ex Angelina Jolie’s Dad

Brad Pitt found himself in an uncomfortable situation when he came face-to-face with two of Angelina Jolie’s family members during a recent date night.

Pitt, 60, was spotted attending an exhibition with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, at the Gagosian Gallery’s Beverly Hills location last week. The two were there to support Bennett Miller, who directed Pitt in the 2011 film Moneyball and was presenting some of his artwork at the gallery.

Photos obtained by The US Sun showed Pitt hanging out with other exhibition attendees while Jolie’s father, Jon Voight, and her brother, James Haven, spoke with others across the room.

"Plenty of people noticed how awkward it was,” an unnamed source told The US Sun, adding that the gallery was “not a big space.” While the source said Haven “was amicable and acknowledged” Pitt, the three men weren’t seen talking and “mostly stood apart for the duration of the event speaking with friends." It didn’t appear that Pitt knew his former father-in-law and brother-in-law would be there, the source added.

The couple was later described as being “polite” and having “acknowledged” Jolie’s family members.

Pitt and Jolie, 48, have been separated for more than seven years, but the custody battle that broke out after Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 alerted fans to how much the Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-stars’ relationship had soured. Jolie alluded to the separation during a 2023 interview with Vogue, during which the Salt actress said her family had needed “a lot of healing.”

Rumors about Pitt’s relationship with de Ramon began swirling in early 2023 as de Ramon’s ex-husband, Paul Wesley, filed for divorce. Pitt’s latest public outing with de Ramon at the Gagosian Gallery served as a nod to the Fight Club actor’s ongoing friendship with Miller, whose exhibition showcases his interest in exploring the mingling of artificial intelligence and photography. Miller’s artwork is scheduled to remain on display at the gallery through February 10.
