The current owners purchased the penthouse as a raw space and tapped the legendary San Francisco-based designer Orlando Diaz-Azcuy of ODADA to transform it into a tranquil haven that puts light and volume at the forefront.
“This allowed Diaz-Azcuy to collaborate on architect Richard Meier’s intended interior layout with the aim of preserving as much of the natural airiness as possible while still maintaining privacy,” says listing agent Mick Duchon of The Corcoran Group. “The lower floor accommodates all the public rooms, which align along the shoreline of Miami Beach, affording every space an ocean view.”
This villa in the sky has just about everything you need between its three floors, as well as access to all of the Four Seasons Hotel at the Surf’s Club’s top-tier amenities. The five-bedroom home has five full bathrooms, four half bathrooms, and private staff quarters, plus a gym that could easily be converted into a sixth bedroom. “Diaz-Azcuy traded double-height volumes in the living room for standard ceiling height so the primary suite could enjoy corner views above the living room,” Duchon tells Robb Report. “In doing so, it brought the latter ceiling closer to the horizon line, focusing the eye toward it and ramping up the sense of lateral outward expansion. The stair leading to the second level, where all the bedrooms are located, terminates in a corridor facing a lattice wood screen overlooking the dining room. This invites light from that space into the interior hall.”
The spacious primary suite has two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows that connect to the wraparound terrace, and the stark-white, spa-like bathroom with dual vanities and a soaking tub overlooks the water. The kitchen is designed for convenience, with spacious Boffi cabinetry, a Viking oven and range, a SubZero refrigerator, two Miele dishwashers, and a hidden coffee bar. There’s also a back-of-house quarters that are accessible from the kitchen for discreet service.
Owners also have dedicated access to a private oceanfront cabana at the hotel, a private two-car garage, and plenty of secure storage. Next door, residents have access to The Surf Club and the Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club, including the world-class restaurants, pool, wellness center, and spa.
