The Chef Show, Netflix's new buddy cooking show starring chef Roy Choi and Hollywood actor/director Jon Favreau, is the kind of show that both makes you hungry in the first five minutes and actually inspires you to cook. The friends met on the set of Chef, a movie in which Jon starred and Roy served as supervisor, and call this project an excuse to hang out and cook together again.

Their kind of hanging out just so happens to include celeb pals like Gwyneth Paltrow and visits to an empty Franklin BBQ, the Austin spot people wait in line at for hours just to try a bite of their famous brisket. Once you've binged it, I know you'll be good and hungry. Here's a breakdown of the restaurants the two pals ate at, along with some recipes inspired by the meals they cooked on the show.

Episode 1: Gwyneth Paltrow/Bill Burr

Part one: Goop and a Pepper Pot. Part two: a whole lot of sandwiches. The highlight? Recreating the grilled cheese sandwich from Chef. Here are some copycat recipes from the Delish team.

Episode 2: Avengers Atlanta

Marvel fans may slightly lose their minds during this episode-Roy and Jon sit down with Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland, franchise directors Anthony and Joe Russo, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige for oysters, shrimp sandwiches, and a whole lot more seafood at The Optimist in Atlanta, GA.

Throughout the episode, The Optimist chef Ford Fry's hat gets a ton of screen time-he's repping El Felix Tacos, another restaurant in nearby Alpharetta, GA.

Episode 3: 'Chef' Film Recipes

The Chef Show will make you want to rewatch Chef, too, especially during episode three. Jon and Roy recreate more dishes from the movie like spaghetti aglio e olio, chocolate lava cake, and Cafe du Monde beignets-their first beignet attempt of the series. Try our copycat recipes below, including a variation on the pasta dish made that is exxxtra garlicky.

Episode 4: Remembering Jonathan Gold

In episode four, Roy and Jon pay tribute to food writer Jonathan Gold, who passed away a few weeks before filming. They cook a peach gallette and pad kee mao (you probably know them as drunken noodles) with KCRW radio’s Evan Kleiman and Jitlada’s Jazz Singsanong. Gold put the Los Angeles Thai restaurant Jitlada's on the map when he called it the spiciest Thai restaurant of the year.

Episode 5: Robert Rodriguez / First Fridays

The star of episode five is First Fridays at Abbot Kinney, a food truck festival that takes place every month in Venice Beach, CA. They eat at Roy's Kogi Korean BBQ food truck and ice cream sandwich spot Coolhaus, among many others (what's a food truck festival if not the perfect place for a six course meal?).

Not in Los Angles? Make a cauliflower crust pizza like the friends did with filmmaker Robert Rodriguez.

Episode 6: David Chang

While hanging out with Momofuku founder David Chang, Roy and Jon make salsa verde and another low-carb dish-cauliflower fried rice. Add some pork belly to this recipe to make it more like theirs.

Episode 7: Aaron Franklin

About a third of this episode is devoted to slicing brisket with Aaron Franklin. The moral of the story? Get to Austin, go eat at Franklin BBQ. It’s worth every hour you spend in line.

Episode 8: Hot Luck

Aaron sticks around for episode eight and takes Roy and Jon to his inaugural Hot Luck Festival, what he describes as a "food festival for cooks." Roy makes his famous short ribs, with help from Jon. They also make kimchi and a deconstructed s'mores dessert of your dreams-we're talking chocolate covered cocoa pebbles and pop rocks, plus hot fudge, honeycomb, and of course, fresh roasted marshmallows.
