Ah, the hotel pool. After a long day of sightseeing or adventuring on vacation, there's no greater pleasure than returning to an inviting pool to float dreamily (preferably happy hour cocktail in hand). Well, at one Swiss hotel, you'll find that draw a little extra-enticing—in fact, you may be tempted to skip the day's activities and just head straight to the pool.

The Grand Hotel Kronenhof in Pontresina, Switzerland, has one of the all-time-best pool areas—it's essentially the adult version of a kids' water park. Its sprawling spa area encompasses no fewer than five bodies of water, including three pools—plus tons of other relaxation spaces.

We'll begin with the main pool, which, though the most straightforward amenity, is hardly standard. The stunning body of water sits on the hotel's ground floor, nestled into the hill on which the (over 150-year-old!) hotel is built. A wall of glass windows affords sweeping views of the Engadine valley and its surrounding Alps, the perfect backdrop to your leisurely float or aquatic exercise (the pool has a current system to accommodate both).

Just beside the main pool is a children's pool, complete with a slide. On the other side is the "water in motion" feature, a pool tricked out with adjustable jacuzzi jets and a waterfall, meant to alleviate sore muscles after a day spent hiking in the nearby mountains.

Step down a hallway and you'll find the salt grotto, an enclosed saltwater pool in a temperature-controlled room meant to clear your airways and improve your skin. Feeling relaxed yet? Allow us to point you to the Kneipp Footpath (named for Sebastian Kneipp, a pioneer of water therapy), a system of shallow baths in alternating cold and hot temperatures, whose purpose is to re-energize sore muscles.

And those are just the pools! Also included in the Kronenhof's pool-and-spa area are two saunas, a salt steam bath, a steam room, and a relaxation room. Though we're pretty sure you'll find no shortage of relaxation in any of these rooms. Oh, and if you're looking for another option, you can always book one of the hotel's private spa suites—complete with its own jacuzzi.
