All the insane Captain Marvel theories going around the internet right now
While the hype surrounding Captain Marvel, aka the first female-led Marvel Cinematic Universe movie ever, has been high for over a year, that reference to the superhero in Avengers: Infinity War back in April officially put fans at DEFCON 1. And things only got more intense when we got our first official look at Brie Larson in her Captain Marvel suit on the October cover issue of Entertainment Weekly.

While we’re still eagerly awaiting the trailer, on September 5th, Entertainment Weekly released ten images from Captain Marvel teasing big things from the ’90s-era story. Joining Larson in the upcoming film are Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Lashana Lynch, and Ben Mendelsohn, as well as MCU alums Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou (reprising their Guardians of The Galaxy characters Ronan the Accuser and Korath, respectively). We’ll also be seeing Clark Gregg as a young, very much alive Agent Coulson, and of course, Samuel L. Jackson—sans Nick Fury’s iconic eye-patch.
But while the solo film follows Captain Marvel’s rise as one of the most powerful superheroes in the galaxy, it’s also inextricably linked to the rest of the MCU, aka Thanos and his pesky Infinity Gauntlet. Considering the credits scene in Infinity War saw [spoiler alert] Nick Fury paging Captain Marvel as he (and Maria Hill) turned to dust, fans are already theorizing how Captain Marvel sets up Carol Danver’s arrival in Avengers 4.
While we already know Captain Marvel plays a significant role in the untitled Avengers 4 movie, fans are divided as to whether the newly introduced superhero is the one who takes down Thanos herself or if she just sets the stage for our OG Avengers to end things once and for all.
Here are some of the current Captain Marvel theories floating around:

Captain Marvel gets the gauntlet, reverses time and then merks thanos in the first 5 minutes of A4 and the rest of it is just everyone moving into the avengers tower and doing grocery shopping together then going to bed at 9pm, the Russos personally told me to tell yall this

Carol and thor is the duo i need to see
Thor being the strongest avenger, it just makes sense for him and captain marvel to team up as theyre both strong and powerful and beautiful— Em x (@TheSlothsayheey) September 5, 2018
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Captain Marvel DID get snapped, but when the Avengers reverse the snap in A4, THEN she comes back and beats his ass....
Maybe that's why Strange had to let this scenario play out in A:IW so that Nick Fury would reach out to Captain Marvel ????????— Drawing On The Walls In Germany w/ Captain America (@cockadoodlnudle) September 5, 2018
literally got full body goosebumps thinking about Captain Marvel beating Thanos’s ass in A4 pic.twitter.com/Bbs4rZWjVF
