For families who have been looking forward to Halloween for months, the scariest part of this holiday is perhaps today's snowfall.

But fear not — Northeast Wisconsin has plenty of options for those who don't want to dash through the snow tonight, but still want to celebrate the spookiest night of the year.

Here are a few alternatives to outdoor trick-or-treating, from assisted living facilities to one ginormous superhero party:

Alten Haus LLC, Neenah

Visit Alten Haus' four Neenah assisted living homes from 4-7 p.m. today, the city's trick-or-treat hours. Residents will gather in the lobbies of the homes to pass out candy and marvel at the children's costumes.

Justina Donaldson, a medical technician and caregiver at Alten Haus, said the children aren't the only ones in for a treat.

"The residents love seeing the kids' costumes," Donaldson said. "It brings joy and smiles to their faces."

The four homes, which house roughly 12 residents each, are at 635 and 625 Bondow Drive, and 1055 and 1091 Jacobson Road.

Bay Park Square Mall, Green Bay

While supplies last from 4-7 p.m. today, storefronts inside Bay Park Square Mall, 303 Bay Park Square, Green Bay, will hand out candy to children.

There will also be a balloon artist and crafts.

2023 is not the first time Wisconsinites saw snow on Halloween. Here, pumpkins are covered in snow in Glendale on Oct. 31, 2019. Care Partners Fox Crossing, Neenah

Who says Halloween celebrations must be confined to one night? Care Partners Fox Crossing, an assisted living facility in Neenah, will host its annual Halloween party from 5:30-7:30 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 1.

There will be indoor trick-or-treating while mingling with residents, a caramel apple bar, crafts and, weather permitting, smores. Come in costume!

Care Partners Fox Crossing is at 1750 Irish Road, Neenah.

Care Partners Kaukauna, Appleton

Care Partners' location at W5219 Army Ave., Appleton, will host indoor trick-or-treating from 3-5 p.m. tonight.

Residents will hand out candy, and there will also be games. All ages are welcome.

Lucky Stables LLC, Neenah

On a typical year, Lucky Stables horse riding school does what owner Katie Brucks calls "reverse trick-or-treating": she dresses up the horses and passes candy out in local neighborhoods.

But the weather called for a change of plans. Instead, Lucky Stables will host a Halloween party, complete with trick-or-treating in its large barn, activities for all ages and abilities, hot chocolate, a costume contest and, of course, plenty of time to hang with the horses.

The party takes place from 4:30-7:30 p.m. tonight at the stables, 6976 Woodenshoe Road, Neenah.

Mill City Church, Neenah

From 6-8 p.m. this evening, Mill City Church will host its annual 10/31 party. This year's theme is Marvel superheroes.

There will be games, prizes such as brand-new bicycles, snacks, an inflatable obstacle course, candy and even the Marvel superheroes themselves.

"It's one of the funnest and biggest indoor Halloween parties in the Valley, and it's all free," said Mill City Kids' Director Becky Baker.

The public is welcome to attend the event at the church, 120 N. Lake St., Neenah.
