This Indianapolis bagel shop has some of the best bagels in the US, food magazine says

When food writers for Bon Appétit magazine went searching for the tastiest, most delectable bagels in the country, they discovered about 24 bakeries outside of New York City that earned the right to be ranked among the very best.

One bagel shop in Indianapolis caught their attention.

"Whatever you do, show up ready for lines, which snake down the street during the weekend rush," wrote Bon Appétit contributor Iona Brannon in her description of Sidedoor Bagel.

Owner Josh Greeson started the business selling bagels online in 2019 while an employee at Amelia's bakery in Fountain Square. Roughly two years later, he was running Sidedoor Bagel as a brick-and-mortar shop at 1103 E. 10th Street, a few blocks away from Mass Ave near the Bottleworks District.

Greeson bakes the bagels, which take three days to make, right before scheduled deliveries and market times "so nobody’s getting day-old bagels,” he told IndyStar in a prior interview.

Sidedoor Bagel has the distinction also of being the only bagel shop in Indiana to receive a nod from Bon Appétit magazine in its list of "best bagels" across the country. The list, which was released Tuesday, was sourced by magazine staffers and trusted contributors around the country, editors said.

Sidedoor Bagel offers hand-rolled sourdough bagels, bagel sandwiches like The Veggie and The BECCY (Bacon, Egg & Cream Cheese Yo!) and other tasty treats. Visit sidedoorbagel.com for more menu options.
