Disney has announced the home release date for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. In a tweet, the official Disney account revealed Harrison Ford’s final adventure as the whip-cracking archaeologist hits Disney+ on December 1.

The tweet even includes a retrospective video telling the story of how Ford bagged the role, complete with insight from character co-creator Steven Spielberg. “Harrison is not interchangeable. Other actors cannot fill those shoes,” says the legendary director.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny released in theaters on June 30 in a packed season, competing with the likes of Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

That might be to blame for its underwhelming box office. At $383 million worldwide, it generated the lowest return out of the four tentpole summer releases. And, let's not forget, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny bombed in China.

Its reviews were equally middling, with the film currently sitting at 69% on Rotten Tomatoes. While it’s unlikely to tempt you to sign up to Disney+, if you’ve already got a Disney+ subscription, it’s still the biggest December release by far.

As per the official description: “In his final outing, Indiana Jones is on the search for a mystical artifact called the Dial of Destiny, which has the power to turn back time.”
