Fall is upon us, and for shoe lovers that can mean only one thing: boot season. And while we're all naturally excited about the promise of classic riding boots and western-style twists for the season ahead, for those thinking that their fall footwear revamp could use an extra dose of royal pedigree, it doesn't get any better than the newly debuted collaboration between India Hicks and Penelope Chilvers.

Both designers have strong connections to the British royal family. Hicks, whose mother was a lady-in-waiting to the late Queen Elizabeth II, is the goddaughter of King Charles, and was even a bridesmaid in his wedding to Princess Diana; she's now known for her taste-making lifestyle and accessories designs. Chilvers, on the other hand, became a household name for royal-lovers years ago for making the riding boots that Kate Middleton simply can't stop wearing (seriously, she's been wearing them steadily since 2004.)

The collaboration came about after the designers were connected by their mothers, who happen to be friends. As they told WWD, they met for drinks at a pub in January, and by the end of the first drink, "we were sketching on the back of a napkin," Hicks said. She added that the collection was designed to be for, "school gate mothers and old ladies, like myself."

As one would expect from two designers so steeped in British classics, the designs feature timeless silhouettes with some on-trend tweaks, like a mid-heel, calf-high suede boot in a rich bordeaux shade, or a low Chelsea boot whose chocolate suede upper is offset with glittering gold stitching and side panels. There's even an ultra-wearable riff on the cowboy boot that everyone is coveting this season.
