'The Incredible Hulk's Lou Ferrigno Confirms Wife Is Facing 'Advanced' Health Battle

Lou Ferrigno, 71, and his wife, Carla Ferrigno, 74, are facing hardship as the latter battles "advanced dementia."

After The Blast obtained court documents revealing that the Incredible Hulk actor is asking to be named the sole trustee of the family trust due to his wife's inability to make decisions regarding the trust, a representative confirmed the heartbreaking news.

"Even the Hulk must cope with the challenges of life in caring for a spouse with advanced dementia," Ferrigno's rep told the publication. "Carla’s dementia has significantly progressed."

"She has severe memory impairment and psychosis, and is no longer the same person who Lou knew for decades," the statement concluded.

The court documents declared that "Lou remains devoted to caring for Carla who needs twenty-four-hour care," with a note from Carla's doctor written on Sept. 1 stating that it is "necessary to confirm the Trust’s directive that Mr. Ferrigno is the sole Trustee to administer the Trust to ensure the welfare of his wife suffering from dementia-Alzheimer’s disease.”

Ferrigno and Carla wed in 1980 and have now been married 43 years. Before their marriage, Carla was a psychotherapist, though she later worked as Ferrigno's manager and physical therapist. The couple shares three children, Shanna, 42, Louis Jr., 38, and Brent, 33.

While Ferrigno is arguably most well-known for his role in The Incredible Hulk and his work happily reprising his role as the character in the decades since, he acted in many other projects over the years, including the 1983 Hercules movie, as well as The King of Queens TV series, Con Man, and was formerly a successful bodybuilder.
