Cancun is no stranger to all-inclusive resorts, so when a new brand plans to make its debut there, it better have some wow factor. This June, AVA will launch its first-ever property, AVA Resort Cancun, an impressive all-inclusive resort with more than 1,700 rooms, suites, and villas; a dizzying array of dining options; and a sprawling 2.8-acre sustainable lagoon.

"The all-inclusive vacation, though well-loved, has gained a reputation of its own, and AVA Resort Cancun is set to reestablish and redefine it," Ash Tembe, vice president of North America sales and marketing, AIC Hotel Group, told Travel + Leisure. "Everything has been meticulously planned, from the sleek design throughout the property to the guest experiences, dining options, and even the nightlife to ensure guests can experience the high life of an all-inclusive getaway."

Cancun has reinvented itself many times over the past 50 years, but at its core has always been about the all-inclusive resort model. AVA Resort Cancun seeks to raise the bar with a sleek, sophisticated, contemporary look (think a neutral color palette of whites, creams, and blonde woods, while floor-to-ceiling windows in rooms and suites welcome natural light and pops of color from the turquoise sea). Rooms range from oceanfront kings and queens to five-bedroom panoramic villas. All accommodations have private terraces, lounge areas, and two-person spa tubs. Higher room categories will offer private plunge pools and butler service.

In addition to the chic, earthy design, AVA Resort Cancun will offer more than 17 bars and restaurants, including fine-dining and casual experiences, as well as a nightclub, speakeasy, traditional Mexican cantina, and even an NFT Bar, where guests can sip creative cocktails and browse digital collections of art.

The spa is nothing to snub, either, with more than 20,000 square feet of space for beauty treatments and wellness, including a hydrotherapy circuit, salon, and restoration lounge. The 4,000-plus-square-foot fitness center will have yoga, pilates, and spin classes.

But perhaps the area that will make the biggest splash is AVA Bay, a 2.8-acre aquatic playground of natural saltwater, floating cabanas, and enough space for non-motorized water sports. It's powered by Crystal Lagoons technology, a company known for its human-made lagoons that consume less water and energy than traditional swimming pools.

"Crystal Lagoons is a pioneer for sustainability at this scale and we just can't wait to see it in action," said Tembe. "AVA Bay emulates an idyllic beachscape in a 2.8-acre area, giving guests the option to lounge on one or four overwater cabanas or participate in non-motorized water sports all in the same body of water."

The resort's pool offerings don't end there. Guests can also expect beachfront access and six swimming pools, including a family-friendly option with a swim-up bar, a kids' pool and water park, and an adults-only cenote-themed pool.

"AVA Resort Cancun does not fit into one mold or cater to one specific customer," said Tembe. "It truly accommodates travelers from all walks of life and with different vacation goals. The big family reunion will have no problem accommodating an all-age group, thanks to amenities like our AVA Kids club, AVA Bay, and multiple lounges for those wanting to indulge in a nightcap or two. Newlyweds meanwhile, can bask in endless romantic dinners or spend their days sunbathing, while those seeking excitement can enjoy a myriad of tours and adventures."

As if this all-inclusive universe needed additional perks, it will also be a short drive from the Cancun International Airport, so travelers won’t have to endure a long ride to reach their vacation destination.

According to Tembe, "We know Cancun is a destination that consistently tops travelers' tropical vacation lists year after year. It's also no secret the Cancun Airport is a hub for international travel, operating an average of 500 flights a day. Having AVA Resort Cancun located a 10-minute drive from the airport makes it a no-brainer."

Cancun may be the first destination to receive an AVA Resort, but it certainly won't be the last. According to Tembe, "We would love nothing more than to bring the magic of AVA across Mexico and the Caribbean."
