Ina Garten Just Revealed the Title & Cover of Her New Memoir — Here's What to Expect

You know and love Ina Garten for her hit Food Network show and her numerous cookbooks (13, to be exact) that help you make fabulous weeknight dinners, showstopping meals for parties, and make-ahead recipes to ease cooking stress. But Garten is about to release an entirely new kind of book, and although it was “really scary” for her to write at first, she ended up loving the process of seeing how she got to this point in her life. That’s right — it’s a memoir!
“I wanted to tell you that I’ve written a different book. It’s a memoir,” Garten said in a recent Instagram video. “It was really scary to do, but it turned out to be so much more interesting than I expected.”

“I tend to look forward in my life, not back,” she continued, “and connecting the dots between when I was in my 20s and 30s to now made me realize I spent my entire life preparing myself to do what I love to do, which is write cookbooks. The name of the book is called Be Ready When The Luck Happens. It comes out October 1 and it’s available for preorder wherever books are sold. I hope you love it and maybe even be a little inspired.”
Be Ready When The Luck Happens is the complete retelling of Garten’s story, starting from her difficult childhood and winding through college, where she met and married her husband, Jeffrey, then her young adulthood when worked her bureaucratic job in Washington D.C., and finally to the point where she bought the Barefoot Contessa store in the Hamptons and began her career in food.
“Ina’s gift is to make everything look easy, yet all her accomplishments have been the result of hard work, audacious choices, and exquisite attention to detail,” the book’s description reads on the Amazon landing page.
