An accommodating guest bedroom puts overnight guests at ease, helping them enjoy their stay. Put yourself in their shoes. Consider what your house guests will need during their visit. From a comfortable place to crash at night to essential amenities, adding a few thoughtful touches to your home can turn an ordinary spare room into a welcoming guest suite.
Design an Inviting Space
"To create an inviting guest room, focus on comfort and aesthetics," recommends Neil Marcus, the in-house interiors expert, COO, and Co-Founder of HomeThreads. "Invest in quality bedding with soft fabrics and add a touch of luxury through decorative pillows and throws. Personalize the space with thoughtful details like a bedside water carafe and fresh flowers. Pay attention to lighting, using bedside lamps or wall sconces for soft, ambient illumination. Provide ample storage, and if space permits, add a cozy chair or reading nook. Opt for a neutral color palette, incorporate calming artwork, and maintain a clutter-free environment for a tranquil atmosphere. By combining comfort, thoughtful touches, and a calming aesthetic, you can transform your guest room into a welcoming retreat."
2. Limited on Space? Buy a Great Sleeper Sofa
Any room in your home can be upgraded to a guest space with the right pieces of furniture. If a bedframe would be cramped or underutilized in a spare bedroom, or you need to make better use of your main living areas, consider how a sleeper sofa can help you create a great guest suite. After all, if boutique hotels can pull it off, you can too. Touted as "The Only Sleeper Sofa You Can Sleep On," American Leather's Comfort Sleeper is a great option (and your guests won't complain about their back in the morning).

Even if you don't have a refrigerator in the guest room, include a carafe of water or a few water bottles to accommodate them during their stay.
