One of the best ways to get style inspiration is by people watching, and there’s no better place to do that than in one of the major fashion capitals: New York. New Yorkers are pretty fearless when it comes to testing out new trends and will often get dressed up just to go grocery shopping. I personally love seeing how passersby are styling different clothing items and getting ideas for my own outfits.

Now I’m bringing the fall trends I’ve seen everyone wearing to you. You’ll find shoes and clothing from brands like J.Crew, Madewell, Sam Edelman, Steve Madden, Birdies, and more, and prices start at just $22. Keep reading to add these trends to your wardrobe.

Top Fall Fashion Trend Picks

Adidas Sneakers

Adidas

You can’t walk one block without spotting a pair of Adidas sneakers lately. In fact, the Samba is so in demand right now that it’s sold out almost everywhere, so you’ll have to hurry if you want to snag a pair. The shoes are made of leather with suede accents, and they feature the brand’s iconic stripes on the side. You can also shop the similar Gazelle if your size is gone, or try other classics like the Superstar. I personally have had my Adidas Superstars for literal years, and they’re so versatile that I wear them with everything from jeans to slip skirts.

Wide-Leg Jeans

Madewell

Though straight-leg jeans are still popular, wide-leg jeans have recently popped up all over the place. You can grab this pair in light or dark wash for just $29 at Target, you can even purchase one of each without spending too much money. If you want a wide-leg style that’s not too baggy, try this slim option from J.Crew that comes in black, light, medium, and dark wash shades.

Ballet Flats

Ballet flats are in again, and they’re so versatile: You can wear them with jeans for everyday outfits or dress them up for the office with a midi skirt. Not to mention they’re easier to walk in than heels. Try an updated version with a Mary Jane strap, like these on-sale Lucky Brand flats, or opt for the classic silhouette with these basic flats that are easy to incorporate into any look. Plus, they’re only $24 at Amazon.

Blazers

Blazers aren’t just for the corporate world anymore. People are wearing them with anything and everything, and they double as a light fall jacket. Layer an oversized blazer with a hoodie for chillier days, or throw it over a T-shirt for a casual look. You can even wear one fully buttoned up as a top. Shop open-front, oversized boyfriend, and leather blazers from Nordstrom, Macy’s, The Drop, and more brands, starting at $55.

Loafers

Another flat shoe that’s currently trending is loafers. Bit loafers are a classic that you’ll be able to wear for years, and this pair from Sam Edelman comes in a variety of colors, including black, beige, and saddle leather. Chunky loafers are in fashion now, too, like these lug sole shoes from Steve Madden and Franco Sarto.
