When you think of e-readers, I’d bet a Kindle comes to your mind first. They aren’t just one of the most popular options on the market, but they also provide access to one of the largest places to get ebooks, the Kindle Store.
Just like how fall goes with pumpkin spice, Amazon Devices and Prime Day are a match made in heaven as Kindles, Echos, Fire TV Sticks, and Eero routers are all seeing major discounts. One of the best deals (and trust me, I review tech for a living) is on the Kindle Paperwhite. It’s my favorite Kindle in the lineup, down to the record-low price of $95.

The most important part of any Kindle is the screen and the tech that makes it up for an excellent reading experience. On the Paperwhite, it’s a 6.8-inch display technology with built-in backlighting that illuminates the display. Text will be ultra-sharp thanks to 300 pixels-per-inch resolution baked in. This way, regardless of your font and size, you can easily read and set it up with the proper backlighting and warmth for a comfortable reading experience.
It’s a fully flush or flat design on the front so that it feels like a piece of paper in a traditional book. You can easily tap the left or right side or swipe it to move forward or backward. The main form of navigation on the Kindle Paperwhite is by touch, but when you want to read hands-free through an Audible title, you can pair earbuds like AirPods Pro 2nd Gen or Echo Buds and connect to an external Bluetooth speaker.
While the Kindle Paperwhite features a USB-C port for easy recharging and a cable in the box, you won’t need to charge the e-reader often. Even with daily reading, Amazon promises up to 10 weeks of battery life.
You can bring the Kindle Paperwhite anywhere without durability concerns, as it is waterproof. If you’re relaxing in a bathtub or a hot tub and the Kindle takes an unplanned dip in the water, it’ll be fine.
On the Paperwhite, as well as any Kindle, you get access to the Kindle Store to find your next favorite book, and you could opt for Kindle Unlimited, a monthly subscription that provides access to thousands of books. You can even get three months of the service for free.
Lastly, you’ll need to decide between 8GB or 16GB of storage; either route, you get access to a ton of room for books, but 16GB will likely mean you won’t ever need to delete a title to have enough room to download a new one.
