Here's a little TMI: I'm sort of an underwear hoarder. There was a time in my life when I was obsessed with Victoria's Secret intimates (don't judge me), which I now regret a bit; the underwear I was wearing in my late teens to early 20s is certainly not the underwear I'm wearing anymore. I've found it hard to let go of them because A) they were pricey and B) I did love them at one point. Basically, if I were to set a relationship status for my underwear and I on Facebook, I'd toggle it as "It's complicated."

Fortunately, over the last few years I've come across undies that meet my new adult standards for intimates — ones that don't make me go, "Ugh, I guess I'll just have to wear these today." My favorite picks from Boody, Skims, Knix, and Old Navy fit well, look good, and most importantly, wear well throughout the day and in the wash. Now that I'm finally coming to terms with the fact that I'll never wear my low-rise, cheeky cut, star-print VS panties again, I've slowly been overhauling my underwear drawer with stuff I actually look forward to slipping on.

If you have a complicated relationship with your undergarments, too, I'm hoping to help you out by sharing the high-quality pairs I consider to be the holy grail of comfortable undies.

Boody Bamboo Full Brief

Boody came across my radar thanks to celebs like Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, and Kylie Jenner, who have all worn the brand's comfy bralettes. While the brand may be best known for its sustainable bamboo viscose bras, Boody also makes underwear from the same type of fabric — and it's so good. The high-waisted briefs are incredibly stretchy and have a flattering cut despite being full-coverage. And thanks to the bamboo fabric blend, they're breathable and odor-resistant. You can get a two-pack in black, white, or three skin-matching tones for $29 on Amazon.

Skims Cotton Rib Boxer

I could write a love letter just to these Skims boxers alone. They're one of the first Skims products I've tried (which has now spiraled into purchasing way too many things), and it was love at first wear. The 95-percent-cotton rib boxers come in what I like to call "elevated" basic colors — like a sea green and a mineral-inspired blue — because they just look a little better than usual. They're roomy and smooth, so I love wearing them when I'm bloated or just need something extra comfy to lounge in all day.

If you're looking for high-waisted, seamless panties that will also keep you cool, look no further than the Knix Essential High Rise undies. I switched to Knix's Super Leakproof period underwear while working from home, and they're so comfortable that I wanted to wear them for longer periods of time — which is why I invested in the brand's Essential undergarments, too. The Essential High Rise isn't leak-proof but does have a quick-dry gusset. I exclusively rely on these during the summer or on days I know I'll be moving around a lot; they're moisture-absorbing and have a barely there feel. One pair costs $25, but you can save 25 percent if you purchase three or more pairs, or 30 percent if you opt for five or more pairs. Trust me, they're worth it.

Old Navy High-Waisted Supima Cotton Underwear

Old Navy launched underwear last year, and if you haven't tried them yet, this is your sign to do so. Made with a Supima and modal cotton blend, the brand's high-waisted bikinis are simply a good basic underwear to own. They're available in 16 colors and prints in sizes up to 4XL, and you can easily stock up since they come in packs of five. Old Navy's undies feel really good on the skin, and even though they're not seamless, I find that the panty lines aren't as visible compared to other similar styles.
