I'm Dying to Try This Glow-in-the-Dark Paint Splatter Look for My Next Zoom Party

Due to the on-going pandemic, it's safe to say I won't be going to a bonafide party for quite some time — but you know what? That's not to say I can't still have fun with party makeup in the meantime, and from the comfort of my couch no less. In fact, I already found a next-level neon paint splatter look I want to try for my next virtual soiree, and well, let's just say it's way out of my comfort zone.

The look in question was created by U.K.-based makeup artist Rachel Makoni, who goes by @beatbyrache on Instagram, where she shares her incredible work with the world. The ultra-talented Black beauty creator tells Allure she wanted to step out of her usual lane with this look, and clearly, she nailed it.

"After doing makeup for the past four years I got bored of doing the same gold lid and smoky eye, so I thought I'd strip back my canvas and play with some colours," she says via email. "I've always been in awe of how drag queens express themselves, and I felt inspired after pride month."

Of course, the coolest aspect of this look is that it actually glows under blacklight. Makoni showed off the fun feature in an Instagram clip with the caption, "Flipped the switch 🎆." Folks have been responding with comments like, "This is amazing 😍😍🔥," "🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩," and "So cool."

To get the epic paint splatter effect, Makoni used neon pigments by Lychee Xo, a brand that specializes in cosmetic glitter and pigments. The specific shades she used are blue raspberry, pumpkin spice, and pineapple dream. Additionally, she shared the full list of products she used, which is extremely helpful for anyone who's interested in recreating the look, like me.

Now, something tells me it'll take some serious time and practice to achieve, but if I can get it to turn out anything like Makoni's look, it'll be well worth it.
