Fashion is a revolving door that spits out new iterations of age-old trends; they’re too good to leave in the past, so we bring them back. Espadrilles, a Spanish-style shoe featuring a sole made of course esparto grass, fit into that category, having been around for thousands of years. Fast forward to today, and we’re still head over heels for the trend with stars like Jennifer Lopez and Anne Hathaway reaching for the chic footwear — even Kate Middleton approves of the style.

I dress up for Easter every year, donning my best ensemble for a celebratory church service and brunch. This season, I’m opting for the timeless espadrille sandal, which will be perfect for the occasion and beyond. I’m eyeing a few different styles, including  flat, wedged, and open-toed options from brands like Sam Edelman and Franco Sarto, starting at $39.

But you don’t have to opt for a soaring tall version to lock in the style.
