When I tell people that I test skincare for a living, they assume that I apply creams and serums to my skin all day, and they're not wrong. I spend a lot of time testing new formulations and products so you don't have to disrupt your skin, hoping to find your next skincare favorite for your routine. This month, multiple lip balms ended up on my desk — after all, it is the season for dry, chapped lips. Even though I have a favorite lip chap that I've used for the last five years, this one from the luxury brand Le Labo earned an instant spot in my makeup bag.

So how does a lip balm make the cut? For me, it starts with the formula, and Le Labo's lip balm has it all. The silky balm is unscented, which is a nice change from all other balms that include either cherry, mint, or vanilla notes. The texture was light, non-sticky, and incredibly hydrating. Thanks to the combination of shea butter, olive, and jojoba seed oils, the balm hydrated my lips without them feeling too saturated and greasy.

The jojoba seed oil is the "magic" ingredient in the lip chap. InStyle previously reported the benefits of the oil and how it's a great addition to any skincare routine. The oil absorbs quickly and penetrates deep into the skin, which helps to banish dryness and irritation. And, even though the oil is deeply hydrating, it doesn't add excess oil to the skin in the process.

But don't just take my word for it. Shoppers have also expressed how much they love the luxurious lip balm, calling it "super impressive." One reviewer wrote, "[I] love this lip balm. So far, it has no rival that can touch its quality… From expensive to cheaper [lip balms], I've tried most of them. So far, this is the best!"

"You'll never need another brand," another shopper shared. "It hydrates my lips all day and I love the shine it leaves. It's not sticky at all. It's literally the perfect lip balm."

If you're not a fan of extra shiny lips but are craving a solution to overly dry lips, then it's time to add Le Labo's tube of lip chap to your cart now. A final shopper even said that the hydrating balm is "hands down, my favorite lip balm ever" since it's "not too shiny, yet makes my lips moisturized for hours." You really can't beat that combo.
