Is IHOP Starting A Fast-Food Chain?

When you think of IHOP, you think of twenty-two-year-old hangovers magically cured by the overly long breakfasts in gloriously sticky booths, correct? Well, I hate to tell you, friends, but it's not the sitting around in the IHOP that did your aching body good—it was those sweet, sweet pancakes. And wouldn't you know it? Just as we begin what's sure to be the, um, most hangover-filled summer of all time, IHOP breaks the news that they're venturing into fast-casual territory.

Yes, my friends. You will now be able to pick customize your IHOP order and bring it right back to bed each Sunday morning.

In an email to Delish, IHOP confirmed the forthcoming opening of flip'd, a walk-through eatery with an "all-day menu inspired by the iconic IHOP menu." The first flip'd location will open in New York City this July, but there are plans to extend the new concept into other cities across the next year or so.

I imagine at this point you're asking: "What does fast-casual, but, like, with pancakes look like?" I have the answer! All the food you typically associate with the pancake house is made-to-order and you'll be able to build a series of new pancake dishes via a build-your-own-pancake bar.

"Upon entering Flip’d, visitors can order from a digital kiosk or directly at the counter," another press release explains, and "guests will also be able to order their food online in advance and pick-up their items from a designated to-go area or have it delivered."

In case you're a person who looks to deeply fried foods to help you in the mornings (yes, hello, same), there will be plenty of Buttermilk Crispy Chicken adaptations available for customers to order on-site and cruise right through with.

We'll update this post as more flip'd-related information becomes available to us from the IHOP geniuses. Until then, I suggest we all start day-drinking.
