IHOP Releases Line of Sweet Cereal-Themed Pancakes

Though adulthood would have you convinced that you should be paying $13 for a box of healthy cereal, there’s really nothing like the guilty pleasure of starting your day with a bowl of junk food disguised as breakfast cereal. In fact, the only way to make it better was if that cereal was also somehow part of a pancake.

Well, you should know that that’s exactly what IHOP has invented with a new, limited-edition lineup of Cereal Pancakes. According to a press release, IHOP has teamed up with Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cap’n Crunch and Lucky Charms to offer a suite of breakfast items meant to recreate the feeling of gorging on a sweet Saturday morning breakfast.

The lineup pairs buttermilk pancakes with the cereals in question, plus added ingredients to really turn this into an occasion to treat yourself. For example, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Pancakes feature a cinnamon spread, cream cheese icing, whipped topping and cinnamon sugar. The Crunch Berries Pancakes incorporate a cereal milk mousse, “blue vanilla sparkle sauce,” and whipped topping. Finally, the Fruity Lucky Charms Pancakes include a cereal milk mousse, a vanilla sauce, and a unique crow of sweet purple whipped icing.

It would seem that the combination of cereal and pancakes are about to have something of a moment, at least if IHOP and the cereal brands they’ve partnered with here having to say about it. Internet sleuths recently found out about Cap’n Crunch’s very own take on a Berrytastic pancake mix, and this IHOP offering means you don’t even have to go through the incredibly difficult process of combining pancake batter and water before throwing it in a pan.

If for some reason you’d rather drink than eat your cereal, you’re in luck. In addition to the pancakes, IHOP is also serving up Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Crunch Berries Milkshakes, which feature some of the same flavors and fun ingredients as the pancakes, but in a drinkable, even more decadent form.

These Cereal Pancakes and shakes are rolling out at IHOP locations across the country right now, and will be available through April 12. That should give you enough time to try it all, including the Magic Marshmallow and Berry-tastic Crunch Kids Combos, which pair one of the pancakes with a scrambled egg, piece of bacon, and pork sausage link. I mean if there was ever a time that adults should be allowed to order off the kid’s menu without judgment, it should be now.
