Idris Elba DJ'd at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Royal Wedding Reception

Actor Idris Elba reportedly played Luther Vandross songs at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding reception at Frogmore House.

Meghan Markle looked every bit the polished princess at the royal wedding ceremony on Saturday morning (May 19), but when it came time for the reception, the bride was more than ready to let loose—and Idris Elba was there to help.

During the evening festivities at Frogmore House, Duchess Meghan hit the dance floor with her friends while the Luther star manned the DJ booth, Us Weekly reports. He's said to have played Luther Vandross’s “Never Too Much,” while Meghan and her friends danced the night away.

As it turns out, the actor is no stranger to the turntables. According to Us, Elba has some significant DJ experience on his résumé, having previously made club appearances under the name "DJ Big Driis" (or, "Big Driis the Londoner") and co-producing a track on Jay-Z’s 2007 album "American Gangster." Who knew!

While the morning portion of the royal wedding was largely traditional (though there were certainly a few Markle-specific touches, including a messy bun and a "Stand By Me"–singing gospel choir), the reception was reportedly bit more modern.

In addition to watching Elba deejay, the 200 guests—a significantly smaller number than the 600 who were invited to the church—were treated to a "cheeky" best man speech by Prince William, a surprise pizza delivery, and plenty of late-night eats. Meghan and Harry also reportedly shared their first dance to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," which, swoon. And, of course, the night ended with a massive fireworks display, because, royalty.

Elba wasn't the only celeb to have the honor of performing at the historic event. During the post-ceremony luncheon at Windsor Castle, Elton John performed four songs for the newlyweds: "Circle of Life,” “Your Song,” “Tiny Dancer,” and “I’m Still Standing.” Though we were really holding out for a Spice Girls performance, these are definitely suitable supplements.
