Idaho Ski Area Offering Free Lift Tickets For Final Days Of Season

Soldier Mountain, Idaho, will offer free skiing and snowboarding during its final two days of operations this coming Friday and Saturday.

The free tickets must be purchased online at Soldier Mountain's website, and an RFID card, which costs $5, is required if skiers or snowboarders don't already have one.

"Despite the challenges Mother Nature had for us this season, we had a great winter at Soldier Mountain," general manager David Alden said. "We are grateful for the region's support and want to share the stoke with our friends and neighbors."

Two events are scheduled for Soldier Mountain's closing day this Saturday: a cardboard box derby car race at 11 A.M. and a pond skim at 1 P.M.

During the cardboard box race, skiers and snowboarders create a homemade derby car fashioned from only cardboard, tape, and glue.

Soldier Mountain is closed today before the festivities.

Several ski resorts in Idaho plan to keep the lifts spinning and remain open into late April. Sun Valley Resort will offer skiing and snowboarding until April 21st.
