In a New York Times profile, coming out today, April 20th, Rachel Weisz announced she’s pregnant with her first child with 007 hubby Daniel Craig. The 48-year-old actress told the Times she and Craig, who keep their relationship away from the public eye, don’t yet know the sex of their baby. But Weisz confirmed her bump will begin to show soon.
Although this is her first child with Craig, Weisz has already been around the mothering block before. She has an 11-year-old son named Henry Chance with director Darren Aronofsky. Yes, that’s right — Jennifer Lawrence’s ex Darren Aronofsky.
Weisz and Aronofsky were together for nine years between 2001 and 2010. Henry, who was born in 2006, was four when his parents went their separate ways. Representatives for the couple told media outlets in 2010 that the pair aimed to remain friends and to raise Henry together in New York City.
It was also in 2010 that Weisz and Craig grew closer while filming The Dream House. The two were married in 2011. Weisz was at one time engaged to Aronofsky during their relationship, but according to The Daily Mail, she never pictured herself getting married.
She said it took a “mature moment” later in life to realize that marriage — with Craig — was actually right for her.
We of course know that Aronofsky went on to date actress Jennifer Lawrence in 2016. The two met while working on Aronofsky’s psychological thriller Mother! and they later split in 2017.
Weisz and Craig have actually known each other since they were both in their 20s.. Both Henry Chance and Craig’s 25-year-old daughter Ella, whom he had with ex-wife Fiona Loudon, attended their parents’ 2011 secret wedding ceremony.
We’re so happy for Weisz and Craig and their whole family. And although they like to keep their lives on the DL, we hope to catch a glimpse of the new baby in the upcoming months.
