If you've scrolled through TikTok in the last month, you've probably heard the song "Boy's A Liar Pt. 2" by PinkPantheress featuring Ice Spice. The upbeat rhythm mixed with the indifferent, soft vocals is currently an iconic soundtrack of the app and has been used in videos by everyone from Kim Kardashian and her daughter, North to Bella Hadid and more.

The original song by PinkPantheress was a bop in itself. But Ice Spice, the Gen Z rapper that has taken the Internet by storm, is what brought it to the attention of A-list celebrities and to the top of the Billboard charts. If you have no idea who she is—don't worry you're not alone. Below, Women's Health has you covered with all the details about who she is and how she blew up.

Her real name is Isis Gaston.

Ice Spice, 23, came up with her rap name originally as the title for her finsta account when she was about 14 (ICYDK, a finsta is an unfiltered Instagram for your closer friends). Her real name is Isis Gaston, according to The Cut.

"I chose Ice Spice because it literally rhymes," she also told Elle. "Plus I love spicy food. I put hot sauce on everything."

She is the oldest of five siblings, and grew up in the Bronx, New York. Her parents are separated, per The Cut.

She first went viral through a TikTok challenge.

In January 2021, the Erica Banks "Buss It" challenge took off on TikTok and inspired a trend of creators making videos set to the song. Ice Spice was among those to go viral with the trend, she told Elle. It was her first time going viral.

Each "Buss It" challenge video followed the format of the creator dancing in normal clothes to a Nelly song, and then a cut, where the video's sound switches Erica Banks' song "Buss It" and shows the creator dressed up, according to Insider. Ice Spice seems to have taken this video down, as it is no longer on her TikTok profile.

Lil Nas X Dressed As Her For Halloween in 2022.

Although her songs were already social media hits, Lil Nas X grew interest in Ice Spice when he dressed as her for Halloween in 2022. He dressed similarly to how Ice Spice appeared in her "Munch (Feelin U)" music video, complete with a green crop top and orange nails.

Ice Spice seemed to love the gesture. She commented "ate me up 😭" on the post, which received over 50,000 likes itself, on top of over 2 million on the post. She told The Cut that she was honored the "Industry Baby" rapper dressed up as her.

She has an EP called Like..?

Ice Spice dropped her first track, "Bully Freestyle," in August 2021, which went on to go viral on TikTok. The rapper said her next few songs were "serious flops," according to The Cut, and has since taken them off the Internet.

She began releasing music again in November 2021, starting with "No Clarity." In January 2023, Ice Spice dropped her first EP Like..? which has six songs. Some of her most popular include "In Ha Mood" and the Lil Nax X apparent favorite "Munch (Feelin' U)"

Her collaboration with PinkPantheress was released in early February 2023, and became an instant success—earning a top three spot on the Billboard 100.

She wants to collaborate with Rihanna.

The rapper told Elle that she loves Coldplay and The 1975, but if she could collaborate with any artist—it would be Rihanna. TBH, same. "She's the GOAT. She's gorgeous. I love her. I'm obsessed with her," she told Elle.

She probably isn't dating Pete Davidson.

You may have seen rumors circulating about Pete Davidson and Ice Spice, but nothing has been confirmed. In late February 2023, the Internet spiraled from rumors that Pete Davidson and Ice Spice were an item because of their appearances at New York Fashion Week, per High Snobiety.

Pete Davidson is currently connected to his Bodies, Bodies, Bodies co-star Chase Sui Waters, but he does has a thing for the latest, biggest stars. TBH, he doesn't seem like Ice Spice's type—but who knows.

Whatever is in the future of Ice Spice, I'm sure it will be incredible. There's only one of her.
