Ian Somerhalder's second vampire series is no more.

Netflix announced that the show will not be coming back for a second season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The streaming giant also cancelled October Faction, which launched on January 5. V Wars first premiered on December 5, 2019, making it one of the few Netflix series to be stuck without a series renewal or cancellation after the first month of its premiere.

The series followed Ian Somerhalder's character, Dr. Luther Swann, as he tries to come up with a cure for a recent virus that turns humans into vampires, including his best friend. While a new war starts to escalate between the new vampires and humans, Luther tries to find a way to get them both to work together peacefully before things get worse.

Fans, unfortunately, won't get to know what happens after the four month time jump that happened in the season finale. With Luther's son, Dez, kidnapped, the finale gave a hint of what fans could've expected if the show came back for a second season.

Although the show has not been renewed for season two, The Hollywood Reporter notes that this is not the end of Ian's new partnership with Netflix and that they are in talks for any future projects. Ian not only starred in the series, but was also an executive producer and directed an episode.

Ian last asked for fans to check out the series on his Instagram back on March 15 as he waited for news on a renewal.

While it might be the end of the line for this show, we definitely can't wait to see what is coming up next.
