Ian Somerhalder isn't ready to say goodbye to Dr. Swann, despite V Wars getting cancelled by Netflix.

The former The Vampire Diaries star posted a new video on his Instagram, explaining to fans that the show is not over yet, even though it was axed by the streaming giant late last week.

"I just wanna thank you for all the incredible messages I've been getting, incredible amounts of incredible messages, asking me if this is the end of the road for Dr Swann and V Wars," he said. "No, no it's not the end of the road for Dr. Swann or V Wars. There are a lot of great stories to tell and I'm going to tell them."

Netflix typically looks at viewership and production costs when deciding whether or not a show should be renewed for another season. According to Ian, the show had plenty of fans and went above expectations.

"Just between you and me, you all came out in mass to see this show. This is a hit show, you came out in mass. I don't mean 10 or 20 million of you, I mean tens of millions of you," he continued. "So obviously, we have some stuff to work out, but once I have some information you'll be the first to know. I'm so grateful for you."

The show, which is based on the hit comic book series by the same name, ended with a major cliffhanger as fans wondered where Dr. Luther Swann's son, Dez, was after he was kidnapped. On top of being the show's lead, Ian is also an executive producer and directed an episode of the series.

"My producing partner and I are grateful for you. We're also grateful to Netflix for giving us season one, launching season one. And obviously the man, Jonathan Maberry who created this entire world. There's so much to tell you, so much to see and create out of this amazing story," he said.

Guess fans will just have to wait and see what happens next for Dr. Swann and the rest of the characters on V Wars.
