A man wanted by police in connection with three high value romance scams has been mocked on social media for bearing a resemblance to Eastenders’ Ian Beale.
South Yorkshire Police have launched a wanted appeal for 61-year-old John Eric Wells, who is wanted in connection with three high value romance frauds.
The man, who could also be known by Howard Walmsley and Howard Hemmings Read, is said to have defrauded three women of over £400,000.
The offences began in September 2014. He targeted women in Sussex, Doncaster and London.
Police believe it is possible Wells is currently living outside the UK.

One Facebook user wrote: “Have you tried Albert Square? or even pub The Queen Victoria?”
In a statement, police said: “Police would like to hear from anyone who has seen or spoken to Wells recently, or has information which may help officers with their enquiries.
“It is possible Wells is currently living outside the UK.
