In a surprise turn of events, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes has received an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA, meaning the cast and crew may promote the film.

Lionsgate becomes the first big studio to be granted the privilege for one of its projects as they are not part of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which is currently in negotiations with the striking SAG-AFTRA.

Examples of other productions included in the agreement are Sofia Coppola's latest film, Priscilla, Michael Mann's Ferrari and Memory from director Michel Franco. These come from smaller, independent companies such as A24 and Neon, whose productions meet the demands SAG-AFTRA are asking for in their negotiations with AMPTP. You can see the full list of productions included in the agreement here.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is a prequel to the popular The Hunger Games movies led by Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. It follows the story of a young Coriolanus Snow mentoring a girl from District 12 during the 10th Hunger Games.

Rachel Zegler, who plays Lucy Gray Baird in the film, wasted no time in taking to Instagram to share her excitement.

"I am so beyond thankful to @lionsgate and @sagaftra for working so hard throughout this strike to come to an agreement, allowing us to participate in press and promotion for our film, which comes to theaters on November 17", the star wrote.

She went on to say, "Making this movie was hands-down one of the best experiences of my life thus far", and said she "cannot wait to share more behind-the-scenes content".
