These 'The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes' Stars Are An IRL Couple

Rachel Zegler, 22, has textbook Lucky Girl Syndrome. The actress first broke into the mainstream with her breakout role in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story (super casual) in 2021. Two years later, she entered her superhero era with a role in Shazam! Fury of The Gods. And now, she's leading one of the world's best-known franchises with her role of Lucy Gray Baird in the Hunger Games prequel The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Not to mention, she'll get the Disney princess treatment in Snow White come 2025.

And in case her awesome portfolio doesn't thrill you enough, Rachel also has a very adorable love story. She's currently dating fellow actor Josh Andrés Rivera, and the pair even met on set. Plus, Josh will star alongside Rachel in the upcoming Hunger Games movie. They're totally a Hollywood "It" couple.

Who is Josh Andrés Rivera?

Serendipitously, Josh and Rachel broke into the Hollywood zeitgeist around the same time. Josh had appeared in a minor straight-to-TV movie called Vegas High, according to IMDb, but just like Rachel, West Side Story was his breakout role.

In addition to playing Sejanus Plinth in The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, he will also appear in Cat Person, the movie based off of a viral New Yorker short story by Kristen Roupenian.

2019: Rachel and Josh meet on the West Side Story set.

In West Side Story, Josh played Chino, the character Rachel's Maria is originally set up with, before she eventually falls for Tony (played by Ansel Elgort). Rachel Zegler went public with her affections in 2021, when she tweeted, "I love josh andres rivera," on X, formerly Twitter, in February 2021.

This was months before West Side Story hit theaters on December 10, 2021.

December 2021: Rachel posts about Josh on Instagram.

Back in 2021, Rachel had a lot to celebrate—but she made her beau the focus of her 2021 recap post on December 27, 2021. "felt great big love i have never felt before," she wrote in the post, which leads with an adorable photo of her and Josh.

While this seemed to confirm their romance, rumors still swirled until Valentine's Day 2022, when she posted another snap with Josh, captioned, "committing valen-crimes."

March 2022: Rachel calls Josh the love of her life.

In March 2022, Rachel won Best Actress from the National Board of Review, but couldn't attend the ceremony due to her filming schedule for Snow White, per PEOPLE. However, she shared an acceptance speech on X, formerly Twitter, and gave Josh a special shoutout.

"I wish to extend many thanks to the love of my life, who I was blessed enough to meet on the set of this film many moons ago," she wrote. "Thank you for holding my hand in my dreams and in my reality. I love doing life with you. Thank you for making me laugh."

March 2022: Josh and Rachel make their (official) red carpet debut at the Oscars.

Josh and Rachel attended the 94th Academy Awards ceremony together in 2022, making their first red carpet debut as a couple. Later, the star shared a recap of the night on Instagram, and called Josh her "better half," in its caption.

Josh also clapped back at hysteria online about a budding romance between Jacob Elordi and Rachel after the pair presented an award together at the show. He shared a cheeky Instagram selfie of the three of them, with the caption, "Friendly reminder that I was there also."

April 2022: Rachel and Josh attend the Grammys together.

A month later, the couple headed to another prestigious award show, The Grammys. Rachel performed during the "In Memoriam" segment of the show with some Broadway stars including Cynthia Erivo, per PEOPLE, and the couple shared lots of cute moments together throughout the night.

Later, Rachel shared another sweet pic on the 'Gram. "It's all so much more fun with you," she wrote in the post's caption.

April 2022: Rachel gushed about Josh to the world.

In April 2022, Rachel was on the cover of ELLE, and credited her boyfriend with keeping her grounded. "He’s able to bring me back to earth and tell me when it really doesn’t matter," she said. "He’s able to just snap me out of it, and tell me to stop checking my phone, or remind me of what actually matters, and remind me to be present, and to not focus on the opinions of 3,000 faceless strangers on the internet."

A month later, Rachel wrote Josh a super sweet birthday message on Instagram, and gave a subtle shoutout to the hit A24 film, Everything Everywhere All At Once. "you are everything i love about this world wrapped into one incredible man," she wrote. "in this life, i like just doing laundry and taxes with you. ;)"

June 2022: The couple is cast together in the Hunger Games prequel.

Rachel Zegler was announced to be leading the newest installment of the Hunger Games franchise in May 2022 as District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird, and a month later, Josh joined the cast as Sejanus Plinth.

ICYMI, Sejanus Plinth is somewhat of a foil to Coriolanus Snow (who will be played by Tom Blyth) in the upcoming film. His character is very anti-Hunger Games, despite being a mentor to a tribute.

After production wrapped, Rachel gave her boyfriend yet another shoutout on IG: "to my favorite actor in the world, josh rivera, i love you so much. more and more each day. i am so glad we did this together," she wrote.

March 2023: The couple attend the Shazam! premiere together.

The couple made their third red carpet appearance for Rachel's film, Shazam! Fury of The Gods. Rachel played Anthea in the superhero film. The star went viral for citing taking this role because she "needed a job," per The Hollywood Reporter.

October 2023: Josh and Rachel celebrate two years together.

It was formerly unclear when exactly this Hollywood power couple made things official, but an anniversary post from Rachel earlier this year cleared everything up. The actress shared a carousel of pics on Instagram on Oct. 30, 2023.

"i love you more and more each day. (you are the most grounded part of me.)," she wrote in the caption.

A day later, the couple attended Heidi Klum's legendary Halloween party, and dressed up as Daphne and Fred from Scooby Doo!

November 2023: The couple attend the Hunger Games premiere together.

Rachel and Josh appeared together on the The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes premiere red carpet earlier this month, this time accompanied with fellow cast mates Tom Blyth and Hunter Schafer (who will play Tigris in the upcoming film).
