“As teens, people think that we don’t like to wait around for things, and sometimes they’re right,” said Alex Wind, one of the survivors of the attack in Parkland, Florida and one of the speakers at the March for Our Lives on a Saturday in Washington, D.C. A crowd of hundreds of thousands of students, teachers, survivors, and supporters turned out for the protest and rally, which featured performances from Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ariana Grande, and Jennifer Hudson, and speeches from young people who had been affected in various ways by gun violence. “To those people that tell us that teenagers can’t do anything,” said Wind. “I say that we are the only people who could have made this movement possible.”
