Hundreds learn about senior services, programs at fair at FCC

Hundreds of people visited Frederick Community College on Thursday to hear about the latest programs and services for senior citizens.

Supporting Older Adults Through Resources (SOAR), a nonprofit, hosted its third annual Senior Resource and Education Fair at FCC.

Leslie Schultz, the founder and executive director of SOAR, said more than 250 people registered to attend the event.

About 70 organizations set up tables at the fair to share information about their products and services — a wide range that included elder law attorneys, in-home health care, mobile medicine, senior living communities, and help with packing and moving.

Both participation numbers were up from last year, when about 200 attendees registered and more than 60 organizations and entities had tables.
