Hundreds celebrate Mother’s Day early during ‘Magnificent Mothers Extravaganza’ on West Side
CHICAGO — Hundreds of moms celebrated Mother’s Day early on Saturday on the city’s West Side.
It was all a part of the “Magnificent Mothers Extravaganza,” an event that was put on with help from the organization “Black Men United.”

Alderwoman Emma Mitts (37th Ward) started hosting the event during the pandemic after meeting several mothers who had no Mother’s Day plans.
Saturday’s event featured a gift giveaway and an information giveaway. Booths lined the street, each one set up by a community organization with services to offer.
