Hulu's new romantic series Love in Fairhope, which hits the streamer Wednesday, September 27, is not your typical dating show, but it's still just as addicting as fan favorites like Love Island or The Bachelor. Set in the idyllic small coastal town of Fairhope, Alabama, Love in Fairhope follows five women looking for love in a town "where your dating app comes up empty after two swipes," per the teaser trailer.

Showrunner Lauren Weber carefully selected the five main characters for the series, all of whom are real women living in Fairhope based on a list of archetypes that you'll probably notice in all your favorites rom-coms and romantic dramas. "I was really wanting to make a show with real people set in a real small town that sort of emulated a lot of the things that we love about small town romantic movies," Weber told Country Living. These include: the girl that went to the big city and came back, the woman who is in love with her best friend, the woman reeling from a failing marriage and so on. Weber went straight to the source to find these women (that being the local beauty shops and restaurants obviously) and ended up with: Claiborne Walsh (73), LaShoundra Young (41), Abby Mannich (32), Mya Jo Williams (20) and Olivia Ogletree (31). "We wanted the subtext of the series to be that love is possible at any age, so we always set out to cast from 20 to 80," Weber revealed.

Fairhope itself looks like a scene straight out of a fairytale with its white sand beaches, rolling farmlands, and quaint downtown. Though what really makes the town so special is the people within. "I stumbled upon Fairhope just by accident," Weber explained "What drew me to this place is how authentic it is in tradition. How open-minded it is was just unexpected to me. How kind it is and multi-generational and just the interconnectivity of everybody knowing each other. I think that is such a time gone by in this country."

The series mirrors the wholesomeness of the town itself as it has no nudity or cursing and weaves in values like family, faith, and community. Once you get into the series yourself, you're sure to become invested in this little town and the stories of the five women who serve as your tour guides. We won't judge if you binge Love in Fairhope in a single weekend, but beware that the ending has "lots of cliffhangers" and "everything ends on a WTF moment," Weber teased.
